Moon Marked: Bond Part 2

Chapter Fifteen ★ Bond

My heart pounded hard at the very thought of losing either of them. I ground my many teeth together and pushed forward with my massive shark tail. The currents swished and swirled over me as a jet stream of power enveloped my body.

The boat motor’s vibrations became more constant the closer that I swam to the source. Being close to Daniel brought the clear thought of mind that I need to think straight. I know now that distance would be the end for both of us.

I surged upwards and splashed out of the water to get a better look. The boat was only a few meters ahead. Yes! Keep going. I’m not going to let my ex get away. An oncoming wave caressed my face as I dove right back into the deep waters but kept swimming after the boat.

Electric bolts zapped through the water like bullets being shot at an oncoming target. Not knowing where they were being lobbed made it hard to dodge them. In an instant a flash of white blinded me.

I swirled around in the water and unable to figure out my direction for a few seconds. Dang witch. I should have bitten off her other arm. Too bad she didn’t give me that chance.

Blood lust surged through me but I squashed it down for right now Daniel needed me and not the monster that I’ve been cursed to become. Another shot of lightening lit the water up beside me and continued on down into the depths.

That witch has to go. With a turn I plunged deeper into the waters and turned again using all my strength to break through the surface and hang in the rough stormy air. I searched for her on the boat. And there she was… on the right side of the boat motioning her hands in the same way from before.

My stomach dropped as more heavy wind pushed me around. I turned to see another, no make that two water spouts on their way to where I was at.

Oh Triton.

Even with the harsh damaging winds I was able to dive back into the waters and hurry to the last know location of the boat. I can only hope that she didn’t move from her location. She wouldn’t be that dumb to send the spouts to their location.

I followed motor’s vibrations as they got stronger the closer I got to the boat. The water behind me was shifting and moving in circular patterns. Dang it.

Is that witch crazy? She’s going to kill them all.

I gnashed my teeth. It’s now or never.

One powerful swish of the enormous shark tale I soared out of the water and arced down onto the boat. Aiming right at the witch. I opened my massive jaws.

The witch below shrieked and threw her arm over her head then let out a chaotic laugh.

Uh-oh.

High winds whipped around my body as the sea sprayed her cool kiss of seawater. Above the clouds turned and twisted in a menacing rotation. The boat continued to burn but none of the flames could touch me due to my water shield.

A hum of a motor bubbled above the winds and alerted me to Ray’s impending escape. The witch leapt across the waters to the other boat with a wicked laugh. She waved her one arm, because I ate the other one, above her head and motioned in a quick downward strike.

We were already moving in a spiraling motion but that did not stop the funnel from dropping down onto its target. In that split second before it hit I leapt into the water as the destructive winds ripped the boat apart.

Pieces sliced through the water and almost impaled yours truly. I dodged and weave while the funnel continued to dance upon the ocean’s surface. Darn witch. I can see why Ray brought her along. Jerk.

The currents were taking on the swirling motion and threatened to make escape impossible. Calling upon the inner sharkdom the latent power felt just beyond reach. Dang it, Doc. Yer cure has cause more problems than helped.

Daniel was getting further away and if I stayed her any longer then that twister was sure to thrash me about with her whirlpool of strong currents. Red tinged my vision as the thirst for blood rose. Triton’s fury engulfed my entire being and I let it carry me forth.

Speed was my ally in this situation. I needed to keep up with Ray’s boat or I will never know where he’ll take Daniel. Not to mention that Pearl’s life was still on the line. Power surged in a steady thrum as it propelled my body through the turbulent waves.

Never have I been able to cut through these waters with such ease. Heh, screw the curse this sharkdom seems to have more perks than disadvantages. Except I look like an absolute freak.

Vibrations in the water different from the bad weather motion caught my attention. Zeroing in on the source I pivoted and continued swimming towards it. It has to be the boat that Ray and company are using.

The closer I got the less the red and hunger took hold of my mental state. Though I started to swim slower too. Was I running out of steam already?

Daniel was close. A connection that I didn’t notice pulled at my mind and culled me to keep swimming closer. It has to be him for I can feel it in my very being.

Chapter Fourteen★ Hostage Cont’

Luna slammed into the witch in one smooth arcing jump onto Ray’s boat. They tumbled head over hills as the witch tried to hold Luna at bay. Luna snapped her massive jaws and teeth at her.

The witch screamed, “Ray!”

Ray only smirked and hopped over to my boat. His hand still in his sleeve. I watched him as my fur bristled. Nothing good was going to come out of that sleeve, that’s for sure.

The wind begun to pick up as the waves got even more intense. He still strode forward like it was only a slight breeze. Over the scent of burnt wet dog hair more sea salt mingled in the air.

I sneezed then sneezed again for the salt tickled my nose. Ray continued to hold his smirk as he pulled out a handful of line that glimmered blue under the moonlight. I growled, “Don’t. If you know what’s good then you’ll get back on your boat and go away.”

“Ha.” He laughed. “Ah, so young–but so naive.”

Behind him more fireballs launched across his boat and splashed against Luna. The wereshark had conjured a water bubble to protect against the flames. Smart. Wish that I could do that then maybe I wouldn’t have wet smelly burnt hair.

Suddenly Ray was in front and blocked my view of Luna and the witch’s fight. He threw the bundle of hair-like strings at me and they glided through the air and expanded into a fine net.

Most of the boat was on fire and my only other option was to jump into the water. Neither of which meant survival. Crap.

The net descended down and pulled me to the floor. I tried to move but the net wrapped itself over my limbs and tightened so that I could not move. Looking up at Ray who flashed his teeth at me I cried, “Let me go.”

“Sorry. Can’t” He replied then bend down to look me in the eyes. “You’re my ticket to more power and revenge.”

“I’m just a werewolf. How am I that valuable?” I asked.

“You’ll find out soon enough.” Ray said then shouted over his shoulder back at the witch, “Quit playing around. It’s time to go.”

The witch snickered, “Why of course, dear.”

Luna jaws did an audible snap. A blood curdling scream erupted over the crashing waves and increasingly fast moving winds. The witch screamed, “You’ll pay for that!”

“I doubt that and Ray don’t you dare leave.” Luna said. “You and I got unfinished business to attend to.”

“Oh for the love of Ursula.” Ray complained and got up to walk to the other boat. I could only see Luna standing close to the edge of the other boat. The witch must be on the floor.

Ray pointed his finger at the ground where the witch must have been laying and said, “Do you want me to tell Tarot that you failed your mission?”

“No,” She shouted then got up. The witch wavered on the unsteady boat. One hand held onto her other shoulder where her other arm was missing. Blood streamed over her hand as rain from above began to pour. Her dark bold mascara and eyeliner ran making her pale skin a fright to see.

The air around the witch crackled and snapped. Electric currents flashed around her as she backed away from Luna. The witch grimaced at Luna then said in a low snarl, “Time to die, freak.”

Luna replied, “Doubt it.”

She rushed towards the witch who threw a lightening bolt at her. The forked current struck Luna and knocked her back into the fire of the other boat that came from the fireballs. She got up and shook her head.

The witch let out a crazed laugh as she pointed to the sky and twirled her hand about. The wind around us got faster and the waters spun. Luna and I both gawked at the gathering clouds that whipped around and formed a funnel.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Luna said still standing in the blazing flames that sizzled as rain spattered down on them. She stared above at the clouds to determine the funnel’s landing point.

Have you ever seen a shark drop their jaw? Consider this a first for me. In the moment that Luna stood dumbfounded the witch hopped over to our boat. Ray was already in the seat getting the boat fire up.

Luna snapped her head our way to see that Ray had begun his escape. She tried to follow but the witch laughed again as she motioned with her hand at the clouds in a downward path. The swirling funnel came down like a lightening bolt onto the boat, that Luna was on, sending wood and other materials flying.

I cried out, “Luna!”

Laughter echoed over the rolling waves as the approaching boat glided in next to ours. The dark man eyes glittered with a smirk then snickered, “So, lovely to see you Luna.”

“Watch it.” She snarled to show more teeth. The man continued to wear his grin and turned away from us. In hushed voices he chatted with the other person that had stood behind him. He made sure to block our view from the other guest.

Luna remarked, “Look. I don’t have time to sit around while you ogle your new girlfriend.”

He tossed a glance over his shoulder and frowned. The man replied, “Who says that she’s new? For all you know is that you were merely a stepping stone in the grand scheme of things.”

She stepped forward and I held out my arm to stop her. It was my turn to keep the peace. She let another snarl escape. The man turned back around and motioned his chin my way.

“What with the kid wolf? He said and added, “A bit tame, don’t you think?”

That thought never occurred to me until now. Out of all the werewolf movies the werewolf was an uncontrollable beast out for blood. I glanced over at Luna. She too was a bit tame considering that she was also still feeling the effects of our recent change.

Skin that felt like hot coals being brushed against it and tender nerves. I spat, “I was told that not all supernatural things are as we mortals were taught.”

He did a slow clap with his hands and let out a dark laugh then replied, “Indeed, young pup. Indeed.”

The dark man tried to transfer to our boat. Luna got in front of me and spread her hands. She growled, “Not a step closer, Ray. Or have you forgotten our agreement?”

So, that’s the dark man’s name? Ray. I wonder who was standing behind him. Luna had mentioned witches. Was that woman a witch?

Ray’s dark laughter pulled me back as he replied, “No. I have not.”

“Where is Pearl?” She asked and glanced over to where her friend laid prone on the front of the ship.

Again another mirth of laughter escaped his lips and he motioned towards the tied up girl, “Why, Luna, is the shark eyesight that bad? She’s over there.”

Luna squinted her eyes and I realized that maybe Ray had a point. She started to go towards Pearl but I muttered under my breath, “Stop. This doesn’t feel right.”

She halted mid-stride and turned back my way. Her dark beady eyes stared back. Luna asked, “How do you know? I don’t feel it.”

I took a chance and peered over at the girl tied up in ropes and noticed a slight shimmer. The hackles on the back of my neck rose as lips peeled away from sharp teeth and I growled. Luna tossed her head back and forth.

How could she not feel the dark energy? Was her being a shark preventing her from sensing it? We both glanced over at Pearl. For a fraction of a second her image blinked.

Ray asked, “I thought you were in a hurry, Luna? Or is your shark brain taking over?”

Another thought hit me. Luna might not be able to see her friend and her magic might be on the blitz but one thing that sharks have is an amazing sense of smell.

“Luna,” I called out and she turned back to me. I nodded towards Pearl then said, “Do you smell her?”

Her shark eyes winced for a moment as her mouth held open then closed. She inhaled moving her head backwards. Ray watched her after I mentioned the sense of smell. He reached into his long baggy sleeves.

Luna exhaled then turned towards Ray. She growled, “Liar.”

“Ah, the jig is up.” He raised his hands up into surrender and stepped to one side. Ray nodded at the young woman who stood behind him just as she released a hot fiery orange fireball.

I dashed and knocked Luna to one side as the fireball launched straight towards us. Hot searing pain engulf me as the flames licked at the fur. The force smacked me back to the other side of the boat.

Some water splashed over onto the fire. Great. Nothing like singed wet dog hair and a burning boat to set the mood.

“Nggghyagggh” I screamed aloud as Luna writhed on the floor of the boat. My mouth and nose elongated into a muzzle as my teeth grew long and sharp. Heat flowed to my ears and oozed as they grew to a point and moved to the top of my head.

Bones, cracked and crunched as ribs pulled apart and reconfigured themselves. Luna roared from her position while more of her body became more shark-like. She snapped at the air in quick motions with her powerful jaws.

I snarled at her as the intense heat slithered and drained away from me. The cool ocean breeze with spray wafted over the sides of the boat. Taking in the scent I exhaled. Pain still tingled in parts but the worse was over… for me.

Luna was still transforming. Her massive body flopped about on the floors and I jumped. Her mouth snapped at one my limbs as I barely landed on the bench seat.

Perched on the seat I scanned the horizon for the oncoming boat. It was dark but with the light of the moon and the werewolf ability to see in low light the nighttime was almost like broad daylight. In the distance I could see it coming as it rolled over the rough waves.

I growled down at Luna, “Hurry up.”

She was on all four puffing and breathing shallow breaths. Her shark-like head turned my way and squinted its beady eyes.

Luna replied with labored breaths, “Kind of busy here. I didn’t expect–” she gestured to herself in a wobble, “–this to happen. I was supposedly cured.

“Heh.” I couldn’t help but chuckle. “Don’t you know that curses cannot be cured?”

An audible pop happened as two more fins adorned the back of her heels. Around her feet were the shredded remains of her shoes for her feet grew a lot larger with webbing between her spread toes that now had razor sharp claws.

“Perfect.” She groused. “Just, blazingly, Triton’s fury, perfect. Those were my favorite shoes.”

The other boat went into lower gear as it got closer. At the controls was him. His dark hair shined under the moonlight against his dark skin. A growl bubbled up as my lips peeled away from my teeth.

Near the front of the boat was the other woman from the first night I met Luna. She was bound and gagged but not put under. Upon further scanning of the boat I could see that the man was not alone. He brought company.

Luna steadied her hand on my arm as the fur bristled and a constant low growl continued to flow forth from me. We both stood there and waited as the waves rocked our boat up, down and to the side. She let out a low growl as well then spat under her breath, “Oh great. Witches.”
