[To the tune of “One Week” by Barenaked Ladies]
It’s been two years plus since you looked at me…
Cocked your head to the side and said, “I’m busy”
LOL.
Am I right? Right? Right??
Where in the blooming fresh hell has the time gone?
I’ll tell you what though, I’ve been in and out of the whole author biz for quite some time. Doing some sprucing up of my author name website over at aliciascarborough.com (take a looky if you want to)
Though let’s kick off by saying…

Book 3, Hunt for Wrath, is a re-write of the original first book for CLICK. But I wouldn’t recommend skipping it because you already read the original. Things have been shifted and changed. So, it’ll be worth the read… looking to publish book 3 in December 2024, but no promises. |

Update on Mystical Mishaps
What about the Mystical Mishaps series? The ladies are taking a break but will be raring to go when I get book 6 of Shadow Bound Chronicles out the door.
Future of Charmed Embers Publications website…
The initial purpose of this website was to be more of an ezine. So, that’s where we’re going… back to ezine!!! Yay!
Now, here’s the saucy bits, there are plans to offer up a weekly ezine round-up for you because you don’t have time everyday to check back here. Instead you’ll receive the email in your lovely inbox and you can click on the article or story that will tickle your fancy.
There are plans to spin back up the MerWere Saga BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE… such as additional short episodic stories are going to be joining the offerings. A cozy high-school romance, supernatural small-town mysteries and more. With that said, MerWere Saga will not be a daily episodic post but a weekly post to allow the other stories to have their time in the limelight.
Guest Author Stories…
We’ll also be having guest writers providing THEIR episodic stories here too. Just keep in mind, these stories are not edited so, be kind. Besides, you get to be involved in the whole process and be able to comment on these stories and discuss with your fellow peers, how friggin exciting is THAT???
Wrapping up…
Lots of movement going on and hopefully yours truly won’t get shiney squirrel syndrome again and abandon ship mid-project… though you never friggin know.
Oh… and if you like my randomness… you should totally follow me on Insta Threads (@ally.scarborough)…. though I’m giving you FAIR WARNING, I curse like a sailor on there… so be aware that my Insta Threads is not for ones who dislike swearing.

These are my top 5 picks for mystery fantasy books for April 2019
Each of them are perfect to read on a rainy day.
I haven’t read all of them but they do look interesting based on the blurbs and their covers. Give them a chance.
1) Death Rites by E.A. Copen
Book 1 of the Lazarus Codex series
I’ve always been curious about this series and had been putting it off because it reminded me of the Dresden Files. Nonetheless, it still called to me which is why it’s listed first.
What’s it about? Well, the story revolves around an ex-convict who happens to be a necromancer. Unlike Harry Dresden who eventually tangles himself up with the law… the law for Lazarus Kerrigan is already breathing down his neck for a murder he didn’t commit.
Intrigued? You can’t resist this book forever.

3) Burned to a Crisp: Gingerbread Hag Mystery by K. A. Miltimore
Book 1 of the Gingerbread Hag Mystery Series
This title caught my eye. I haven’t read it yet but it is on my TBR list.
It appears to be a spin off of the Hansel & Gretal story which was one of my favorites when I was a child.
If you love Hansel & Gretal then this story should not be skipped at all. It certainly appears to have a twist on the old-time childhood story filled with mystery, murder and of course baked goods!
So grab your cookies, cakes and pie and read this seemingly awesome spin to Hansel & Gretal.
